Vitality Issue 1The only limit is your imaginationA transgender boy and his mother hop dimensions in search of his father A girl and her girlfriend face down the monsters that keep her village afraid A little sea monster girl listens to her two grandfathers tell the story of how they found her A woman fights to rescue her brothers from a sorceress that she finds hersel Vitality Magazine Issue 1 is full of delightful stories some a little sweet some a little painful but all of them enjoyable to read There are also a handful of poems all of which were uite deep and made me think; some of them made me dig for their meaning but in a good waySome stories especially stand out in my memoryA Muse Afire by Kayla Bashe kept me utterly engrossed for the length of the story It's full of gorgeous lines that aren't only beautiful but also heart piercingly deep The connection and heart between the Player ueen and Innocentio was so lovely and almost crushingly painful at times Bashe really nailed the ending with this story In fact all of the stories in this issue as far as I can recall manage to land a happy ending of some sort Not in that sappy too perfect way but in a realistic way that allows characters to feel pain but doesn't leave them in despairAnother stand out was Finding Home by A Merc Rustad I've been a fan of Merc's writing since I read How to Become a Robot in 12 Easy Steps published by Scigentasy so it wasn't much of a surprise to me that I fell in love with this story as well This piece is also full of lovely and deep lines To me it spoke of the need for human connection and the need for home for roots I think most people can relate to that I know I can And the relationship between Joseph and Amand is so adorable who could not fall in love with them?Of the poems I especially enjoyed Proof by Johnny Sfarnas it's a bit nontraditional plays with the form and really says so much that I'm still trying to decode One of my favorite lines continues to stick in my mind i dont smoke i dont believe in god or guilt but still both romp in my ribs cage dancers enclosed in ivoryAll in all Vitality Magazine Issue 1 is a great collection of stories that let you feel deep emotions pain loss loneliness but don't leave you in despair Each story features a ueer protagonist and you really get to enjoy a vast range of sexuality and gender throughout these stories and poems I'm really looking forward to seeing what Vitality brings in its second issue
