The crew of the Norland were having a whale of a time in 1982 ferrying passengers between Rotterdam and Hull Especially the 'girls' in the catering crew Wendy Frankie and Candy all stewards and all gay men So when their ferry was reuisitioned by the government to transfer nine hundred paratroopers to Ascension Island for the war in the Falklands the 'g I have a massive interest in the UK ferry scene plus a big interest in British military ops I also work as a steward in a very similar form to those of Wendy and the crew of the MV Norland This book literally made me laugh out loud uncontrollably at the antics of the crew especially as I work with many people who are just like those depicted in the book Although for me I’ve never gone to warSeeing how these men and three women volunteered to go with their ship into the south Atlantic in 1982 is an interesting funny and at times sad read that no one should miss With the right balance of humour wit and reality of war that grips you from the off The author even able to get across the languageaccent and banter of the crew fantastically well within the pages I couldn’t put it down and read it so fast Worth every penny and highly recommended I don’t write reviews usually but this is that good I was compelled to encourage others to read
