This is the second bio I've read by Metaxas He is engaging and keeps the reader's interest occasionally also inserting summaries of Luther's theology into the book I would say this is written from a decidedly protestant perspective However the book seems to be a consolidation of a handful of source biographies rather than an original work by a subject matter expert so be aware of that For example uotes are typically referenced to other books on Luther From a stylistic perspective I was perplexed by the freuent often unnecessary and sometimes even painful abandonment of everyday language in favor of intellectual or unusual wording eg 'cetacean' instead of 'whale'
